Our patented, ultralight radar-based RF technology gives our customers’ UAVs autonomous landing and positional tethering. Designed and manufactured in the UK, our in-house engineering expertise ensures full control over quality, rapid innovation, and the ability to tailor solutions to meet mission-critical requirements.
With the ability to penetrate fog, smoke, and dust when compared with infrared, laser sensors, and cameras; skyAnchor™ uses a wide beam technology which makes it more robust in challenging conditions. It self-synchronises over a dedicated bi-directional comms channel for an end-to-end, ‘closed’ solution – effectively locking the UAV to the anchor units once connected, ensuring it is both reliably identified and securely authenticated all the way to the landing pad.
skyAnchor™ provides landing pad ID & positional data (to AutoPilot) with centimetre-level accuracy, to facilitate landing autonomy all the way to the Landing Pad, making it the perfect companion to DiaB platforms.
skyAnchor™ also accounts for roll/pitch/yaw movements, typical of dynamic landing pads such as those found on a vessel, with full yaw flexibility on approach to the landing pad.
Self-Synchronising RF (Airside to Anchor unit) is an end-to-end, closed solution, which is hard to ‘spoof’, giving a fully authenticated landing. Background clutter is mitigated, ensuring the ‘lock’ is reliable & resilient.
skyAnchor™ uses a FMCW beam which is hard to ‘sniff’ or ‘jam’, it operates at 60GHz which attenuates/dissipates rapidly in the atmosphere, and the airside unit can be passive until it is in approximate range of the anchor units.
skyAnchor™ has the potential to be an alternative comms channel for C2/CONOPS messaging and to support long-term, autonomous operation, where the skyAnchor™ system will monitor its own condition and surroundings to ensure durability and performance.
